American Institute of Floral Designers

The American Insititue of Floral Designers (AIFD) advances the art of professional floral design through education, service and leadership, while recognizing the achievement of excellence in this art form.

 

The American Institute of Floral Designers was established in 1965 and is now the leading non-profit organization dedicated to establishing, maintaining and recognizing the highest standard of professional floral design in the industry. AIFD and its global network of accredited members are at the forefront of the floral industry in delivering educational design programs and design flowers for such world-renowned events as the Academy Awards, Tournament of Roses Parade, Presidential Inaugurations and more. AIFD members are an extraordinary group of talented artists.

Accredited membership in AIFD is highly selective and difficult to achieve. It can only be obtained after a prospective member has effectively demonstrated advanced professional ability of their floral artistry. Members earn the right to wear the “AIFD" post-nominal addendum to their name, demonstrating that their peers have found them to be “Accredited in Floral Design.” Members must also continue to demonstrate their expertise and artistry by meeting stringent continuing education requirements.

In the United States Accredited AIFD members participate in six regional chapters. Each Chapter hosts activities designed to educate the floral industry and the floral consumer market. AIFD also supports student chapters located on the campuses of major colleges and universities across the country.

Each July, AIFD presents its acclaimed National Symposium - one of the largest and most beloved events in the floral industry it is also considered to be the most important floral design education event in the world. This exciting event attracts the best designers, educators and interested individuals from all over the world. AIFD also offers scholarships to talented young designers through its foundation.

AIFD Industry Partner members are manufacturers and distributors of products and services to the floral industry. They play an important part of the Institute as they help fund numerous design education events.
